Unplugged Inc.

For private equity — time and room for what numbers can't measure.

Reading time goes to AI. Face-to-face time goes to people.

What we aim for: greater enterprise value, long-term resilience, and successful deals. IMs, VDR documents, IC memos — AI reads fast. What decides a deal is what people hear in person. We implement AI to shrink the reading, and reinvest the time freed in time with owners, management teams, and LPs. We practice this ourselves: with the time AI opens, we go and meet people.

Our clients are private equity firms. We work in two settings: fund operations and portfolio companies. Bank M&A, corporate acquirer, PE buyout — our founder brings the perspective of three seats to each implementation.

AI is a means.

The goal is more time for what only people can do.

Meeting, listening, deciding, negotiating — connecting hearts and directing motivation.

Beyond that, we believe, lie greater enterprise value, long-term resilience, and successful deals.

From implementation to how the opened time is spent: one service.

AI implementation, reinvested in relationship alpha

Raising enterprise value is your work. Ours is to create time for one of its sources — relationships — and help direct that time where it matters. We use one approach across two settings: fund operations and portfolio companies.

Relationship alpha: the competitive advantage that comes from relationships (Charlotte Beyer, CFA Institute Research Foundation, 2019). We bring the idea to the private equity front line.

Confidentiality comes first: for each deal, we define data boundaries, training-use settings, access logs, and end-of-engagement handling before work begins.

Create time with AI, reinvest it in relationships

Reinvest the time freed in relationships

Fund operations

First step: one live due diligence

Prepare → Build → Run

  • Owners (sourcing)
  • Management teams and counterparties (deal)
  • LPs (trust and re-ups)
  • The next steward (succession)

Portfolio companies

As a value-creation measure

Alongside the fund team: Prepare → Build → Run

  • Customer visits
  • One-on-ones and floor time with employees
  • Once the portfolio company can run it independently, we step back

As those relationships deepen

Greater enterprise value · Long-term resilience · Successful deals

— that is our view

01

AI implementation for fund operations

From sourcing to IC and monitoring, we move reading work to AI and direct the time freed toward owners, management teams, and LPs — toward successful deals and greater enterprise value and long-term resilience.

AI implementation in portfolio companies

We implement AI as a value-creation measure, beside the fund team. Once the portfolio company can run it independently, we step back — toward greater enterprise value and long-term resilience.

Why us

Experience, brought back to the conversation

  1. 01

    Three seats.

Bank M&A, corporate acquisitions, PE buyouts. We have seen the seller, buyer, and investor perspectives in practice.

  2. 02

    Dialogue moved the deal.

On the Four Nines (999.9) engagement, our founder saw that dialogue between people was what moved the deal in the end.

  3. 03

    Time proved the design.

Of the three companies our founder worked with at a PE fund, two later went public under the funds and owners who followed. He took from that experience the importance of designing beyond the immediate holding period. Long-term resilience is what time proves.

Selected work

Selected implementations

These case studies are drawn from AI implementations at 5D Management Inc. They show how systems were implemented and improved around frontline work; self-sufficiency and time savings are stated only where the individual case documents them.

EMS × AI

A private ambulance company

Medical transport / non-engineer staff

Before
No systems engineer in-house. Hired a staff member rich in field knowledge — but coding was completely new to him.
After
With hands-on support from 5D Management, he mastered AI-assisted coding. One month later a new app was live — plus an HP and internal tools, built from zero with their own hands. They know the field, so what they build works in the field. Website building has since grown into something they can take on as a new line of business.

Labor law × AI

A labor & social security firm

Professional firm / the head learned it first

Before
Could put up a website, but coding was out of reach.
After
Built an in-house system on the Claude API that reads handwritten time cards. A 40-hour review task shrank to 2 hours a month, and the freed time went back to clients. Now every employee who wishes to gets support to take the CCA-F certification exam. In August 2026 the firm ran an AI training for 60 employees; one voice: "I learned there is a way of engaging with AI that draws on my own strengths."

Our name

Why Unplugged

Unplugged was the name our founder gave his first company in 2010. It now points to what remains when the amplifier is removed: time for people to face one another. We carry that origin into the work we do today.
